With the opening of Camp Polk, Louisiana, Morris Insurance Agency was founded in March of 1941 by Oscar E. Morris to serve the insurance needs of all Vernon Parish residents, civilian and military alike. That service has continued for over 57 years! In January of 1946 his son, Winford H. Morris, joined the founder in the Agency after serving with the United States Marine Corps in the Pacific and the Guadalcanal Campaign during World War II. Malcolm D. Morris, the founder's grandson, joined the Agency in May of 1970 upon graduation from Northwestern State College of Louisiana with a Bachelors degree in Business Administration. Morris Insurance Agency began in the home of O. E. Morris and later moved to a second floor office on 3rd St., the "main street" of Leesville. In 1980 the Agency moved to the present location at 400 South Sixth St., the new "main street" of Leesville. The Agency services the personal lines insurance needs of Vernon Parish residents, as well as commercial, the latter comprised primarily of small to medium size retail and service oriented businesses, but serves a number of relatively large commercial accounts as well as political subdivisions and government agencies. The Agency writes all types of fire insurance, casualty insurance and bonds.
